Rubber lining is a widely used anti-corrosion technology. At the 2014 China Anticorrosive Association Annual Meeting held not long ago, Blair Rubber Company of the United States has made good achievements in the development, production and application of anticorrosive rubber lining, which has attracted the attention of the industry. Mike Parsons, the company's R & D manager, believes that the business philosophy of "starting with innovation and lasting quality" has laid Blair's leading position in the field of anti-corrosion rubber lining.

Modern chemical equipment is often exposed to corrosive media in use, and metal equipment and pipe fittings are therefore susceptible to corrosion. Due to its unique chemical resistance and physical and mechanical properties, rubber lining has become a widely used and reliable method to protect chemical equipment. Blair Rubber is the only full-service rubber lining manufacturer in North America. The company's R & D manager Mike Parsons introduced that since its establishment in 1981, Blair's scientific research team has only focused on the development and production of rubber lining one product. This concentration of investment in research and development and a high degree of specificity makes Blair in the development of rubber lining materials, applications and installation technology in an international leading position.

"Compared with traditional anti-corrosion materials, the anti-corrosion rubber lining we developed and produced has very good performance advantages. For example, the titanium alloy lining of the equipment in the high temperature and humidity chlorine environment generally needs to be replaced after 3 months. After the replacement of Blair graphite reinforced natural hard rubber VE925BNG, the equipment has been delivered for use since October 2013, and there is no sign of corrosion. Still in normal use. Ultra-high temperature corrosive environment (more than 115 ℃) under the equipment is usually lined with rubber and brick by means of anti-corrosion, a few years after the lining brick will need to be replaced. The use of Blair brominated butyl rubber HB50HT lining does not require lining bricks. Its maximum temperature resistance to acid and alkali solutions reaches 127 ℃, and its service life can exceed 8 years in extremely harsh environments." Mike Parsons told reporters.

Excellent product performance not only comes from the leading material formula, but also the production process is an important guarantee of quality. Mike Parsons said that unlike the general rubber lining using extrusion production process, Blair's rubber lining uses a unique process of calendering into a single-layer sheet and then hot-pressing composite molding. The thickness of the single layer after calendering can reach the thinnest 1‰ inches, and then on the pressure roller to heat composite to the required thickness. Such a production process not only ensures that there are no impurities, pores and pinholes inside the rubber lining, but also makes it easy to compound rubber, elastomers and even graphite of different components into the lining products. The composite products not only retain the excellent characteristics of different materials, but also overcome the shortcomings of their respective properties, so that the traditional material of rubber lining still shows strong market competitiveness and becomes an important choice in the field of anti-corrosion.

The excellent performance makes the Blair anti-corrosion rubber lining the only rubber lining designated by the United States Aerospace Administration, which has set a very good operating record in the military industry (such as missile launch tubes) and nuclear power fields. According to Mike Parsons, the Blair chloroprene rubber VE612BN installed in the steam condenser of the seawater cooling pipe system of the Rancho Cucamonga Calif.Nuclear nuclear power plant in southern California has been in use for 32 years and is still "in service. Blair VE821BNS and VE824WN rubber linings have also been used for more than 20 years in nuclear power plants built by well-known companies such as Aquatech,Siemens, and Graver Water System.

In the civilian field, Blair anti-corrosion rubber lining also created a large number of classic cases. Mike Parsons told reporters that the service life of tank cars and storage tanks for storing and transporting hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid is only 3 to 5 years. After using Blair soft natural rubber PG70 as anticorrosive lining for hydrochloric acid tank cars and storage tanks of Dow Chemical Company, the service life is more than 25 years, thus PG70 is recognized as the lining material with the longest service life on hydrochloric acid equipment. In 2013, Blair also installed thousands of square meters of chlorinated butyl VE628BC rubber anti-corrosion lining for GE's Australia project.

"Today, the huge market attracts us to China. In 2013, we officially opened an office in China and began to provide anti-corrosion rubber lining products and services for Greater China and the entire Far East." Mike Parsons introduced the development of their business in China. In fact, as early as 1998, Blair's 11100 square meters of chlorobutyl rubber lining products had been adopted by Guizhou Wengfu Group, China's largest phosphorus chemical enterprise. When Blair Company paid a return visit to Wengfu Group in August last year, it was confirmed that this rubber lining equipment was still in good condition and was still in normal use.

"Rubber lining is one of the most cost-effective ways to control corrosion. Chinese companies apply Blair-designed rubber lining to provide lasting service and protection with the correct installation and good maintenance." The recognition from Chinese customers makes Mike Parsons confident in Blair rubber lining products.

Innovative Development of Rubber Industry and New Market Trends

In the field of natural rubber, Southeast Asia is the world's major natural rubber producing area, and its output and quality still have a profound impact on the international rubber market. This year, Thailand, Indonesia and other major rubber producing countries have improved the yield and quality of natural rubber to a certain extent by improving planting technology and management mode. According to relevant data, Thailand's natural rubber production increased by [X]% compared with the same period last year, which provides a more stable supply for the global natural rubber market. At the same time, driven by the concept of sustainable development, these rubber-producing countries pay more attention to the ecological protection of rubber forests, and actively promote organic planting and environmentally friendly rubber tapping methods to ensure the long-term development of the natural rubber industry.
